Our annual October Festival on Sunday 4th October 2009, was possibly one of the best attended, by way of performers and audience, for a very long time. The day started early, with four booths already set-up in the North Hall of Covent Garden Piazza, well before 7.00am!

When I told the Russians that where they were standing was the very centre of the puppet world, I wasn't joking. Yes, there are festivals - Charleville, Ghent and others - but at that moment, within the walls of St. Paul's church, here was where it was at.

SOUTHEND PIER PUPPET FESTIVAL

6th, 7th & 8th August 2010

 

Three full days of Punch & Judy shows performed by members of the Punch & Judy Fellowship.


Shows performed daily on and around Southend Pier from 11.00am until 5.00pm on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th August.

Spend the day at the seaside, enjoying the Punch & Judy shows of:

 

Chris Gasper (Chris the Clown) from Essex, Chippy Wood from Surrey, Philip Dann from Norfolk, Geoff Felix from London, Chris Cullen from Northamptonshire, John Alexander from Essex and Norman Morris from Hampshire.

Report on the 2010 Covent Garden May Fayre by Geoff Felix

For some, the May Fayre is a day of affirmation, a day to show that Punch is alive and well. For others it is an occasion to greet friends and remember, or perhaps garner a few ideas and maybe buy something. For the children, who can happily accept something extraordinary as normal, its a day of enjoyment. Indeed, the May Fayre is extraordinary. Its a vibrant pot of eccentricity splashed across a grey city wall. As adults we have grown to accept this as a marker in our lives, and here we all were again, on a rather cold Sunday.
