The Punch and Judy Fellowship is pledged to ensuring that its members are not asked
wrongly for DBS checks (formerly CRB). A check may only be requested when the performer
is engaged in a ‘regulated activity’ as officially defined. This definition is centred
on frequent and intensive contact with the same children in the same place by someone
who is employed in a supervising capacity. DBS checks are not relevant to booking
a Punch and Judy performance. This includes visits to schools. Requesting a check
when not required is a breach of current legislation. More info.

Membership Status
A ‘Full Member’ is a performer whose show has been carefully assessed and is considered by the committee of the Punch and Judy Fellowship to be providing a performance that offers ‘a basic level of proficiency’ or above.
Assessment criteria include the ability to speak with the authentic voice of Mr Punch (the swazzle), overall appearance and entertainment value.

For over 20 years, Professor Shaun McCarty has been presenting Punch and Judy shows to ages from one to hundred and one. The show has all the characters of the original play plus a few more. There are sixteen characters in all.

Nicci Jo is an actress and performer based in Stoke on Trent, providing Punch and Judy, Magic and Music for parties, events and workshops.
Nicci has experience in theatre and teaching (drama) as well as working with, performing for and producing theatre shows for adults and children with special needs and disabilities. She has provided shows for people of all ages.
Nicci can also perform bespoke music/puppet sessions which have proven popular with children with disabilities as they are sensory based.
